Pure enjoyment since 1885.

The Zipf Brewery was founded in 1858. Engineering innovations such as artificial cooling or the introduction of the first industrial electric railway quickly brought success. By 1914 the annual output had broken the 140,000 hl barrier and was steadily rising. Although production was briefly shut down during World War II, at the centenary anniversary the 200,000 hl barrier was smashed.

Particularly in recent history the Zipf Brewery has always been a step ahead of its competitors. Already in 1967 Zipfer Urtyp sets the trend toward Pilsner beer. By the end of the 1960s the bulky wooden crates are replaced by the lighter plastic crates and the beer is now filled in aluminium barrels. After the merger with Brauunion the annual production of 500,000 hl is exceeded in 1971.

During the end of the 1970s a new market is opened with the first six-pack to carry and also with the all-round popular 5-litre party kegs the brewery hit the bulls-eye of the national beer connoisseurs. With Zipfer Sparkling, the last milestone in the success story of the brewery, a new era for beer is introduced.
